Council Highlights – October 24, 2016

Presentations

Council heard a presentation from Bernard LeBlanc, President and CEO of the Greater Moncton Romeo LeBlanc International Airport. He updated Council on recent activities at the airport.

We also heard from Paul Van Iderstine of the Codiac Regional Policing Authority to present the 2017 budget.

New Bus Purchase

Codiac Transpo, through the Public Transportation Infrastructure Fund received funding that will allow the Town to purchase two new buses, replacing our current ones. We are purchasing one bus in 2017 and one in 2018. This bus is a 40 foot Nova bus.

Facilities Management Review

Woodstone Properties completed a review of our facilities management process for the town and made a series of recommendations that will be considered during budget deliberations. During this process it was determined there were some structural issues with the fire hall that need to be addressed.

2017 Budget Parameters

A report was presented indicating some assumptions to be made while staff prepare the budget for 2017 including holding the tax rate, debt ratio, changes that may need to be made in the capital budget, changes in funding from the province etc…. Council accepted and endorsed this report.

Library Appointment

Mayor Seamans appointed Anna Sutherland to the Riverview Public Library Board.
